Succes stories: Human System Integration
During the conference (Tuesday November 8th), a number of presentations will be given on the topic of Human System Integration (HSI). The presentations will have a focus on HSI success stories. These success stories can be associated with developing a specific product or a more general method or tool to support HSI activities. Topics are related to any of the broad areas generally associated with HSI, such as Manpower, Personnel, Training, Human Factors, System Safety, Survivability and Health Hazards. Additionally, there is possibility for participants to present their work on a broad scope of topics through a poster (see below).
We are happy to announce the keynote speakers of the conference:
- Professor Neville Stanton (University of Southampton)
- Dr. Gavan Lintern (Cognitive Systems Design)
- Professor John Flach (Wright State University)

Call for posters
We cordially invite you to submit a poster abstract for the D-CIS Human Factors Event 2011 (Tuesday 8th November).
Below is a list of possible topics. You are welcome to submit an abstract on any of these topics. Please contact the organizers for suitability of other topics.
• Cognition and decision making
• Human monitoring: e.g., human performance, emotions, biofeedback
• Human factors and social computing
• Human factors in team collaboration
• Human factors in training
• Modeling of human-machine relationships
• Multi-modality and human performance
For the abstracts the following guidelines should be followed:
Research Results: Please provide a clear problem statement concerning Human Systems Integration research or discuss your recent work on human factors. Specify what the aim of your research was, what equipment you used, what the results are and discuss the relevance of these results for application of Human Systems Integration.
Case Studies or Product/method success stories: Please briefly describe your system and its application, and identify what it is used for and how it involves human system integration. Note that the D-CIS Human Factors Event focuses on innovative system developments based on user centered approaches. Presenting only a description of a system and its general use will thus not be sufficient.
Your submission should include a title, author names, affiliations and references. The abstract itself should not exceed a maximum of 600 words (excluding title, author names, affiliations, any pictures, graphs, tables and references). The abstract should be in 12 point Times New Roman and double spaced. Any pictures, graphs or tables should be located in the text at the correct location.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is September 23, 2011.
