Thousands of days in the lab

Hundreds of pages written

Hundreds of papers read

Dozens of sleepless nights

3 minutes to convince a crowd

To stay up to date in the most research topics, the D-CIS Human Factors Event will be hosting the 3 Minute Thesis Competition. The 3 Minute Thesis Competition is an opportunity for students to ‘sell’ their research to an interested audience. The student will be challenged by the question “What are you researching?”. The idea is to let the student convince the audience about his or her research within three minutes and with one PowerPoint slide. Whereas the scientific content will be considered, the entrants enthusiasm and communication skills will be the important aspects of this competition. A jury and the audience itself will elect the three most convincing students. Confirmed members of the jury panel are: Lars Wormgoor, Head of Thales Netherlands Communication, Gilles Coppin, Professor and head of LUSSI department at Telecom Bretagne and Chris HaarMeijer, co-founder of Re-Lion BV.  The winner will be offered one year subscription at the Cognitive Science Society journal and 180 euros. The two runner-ups will be offered Human Factors related books. The three minute thesis competition is open to all Master and Doctoral level students within the Human Factors research domain. Although the 3 Minute Thesis competition is open to all students, in general, the competition is recommended for students in later stages of their research. Please note that participants of the three minute thesis competition are expected to register for the full event.
